Some of the lyrics on this song are from different poems written by the chilean poet Pablo Neruda. Mainly from his book "Los Versos del Capitan"
I chose certain lines that really spoke to me at the time for representing how I felt regarding a difficult passage of my life.
This song is close to my heart. I very often sing it when playing for people.

Lyrics

This Difficult Time

I'm one of those who lives
In the middle of the sea
I have never been
Let down by a single wave
I'm grateful to the Earth
For having waited for me when
The sky, and the sea
Came together like two lips

From time to time at a distance
You have to bathe in your own grave
Then at the end we're exhausted
But for now at least we're not dead

Well, I had some serious questions
For you my love
You offered to burn me
That way you didn't have to answer none

Now in the city where we'll live no more
All is left empty; our clothing, our pride

I'll go from life to life
From guitar to guitar
But no, I won't go
To nobody else than you

Let's talk of things that are secret
Maybe that's all we have left
Let's lay down in blue shores of silence
What did you do with our nest

You're a laughing piano
With all the NOTES OF LIFE
On me falls the music
From your eight THOUGHTS OF GOLD

No one could ever stop the water's flowing
Same thing with my river of love to you

I love everything
Between fires love still burns

Today you promise your whole life
Tomorrow you'll deny the light
Time is hard for us now, trust me
We'll leave it out vividly

Are you sailing or dancing
On your wistful WEDDING DRESS
Are you locked outside
Looking for that STAR COLORED KEY

This time is difficult, wait for me dear
We will rise suffer, we'll feel, we'll rejoice

I'll go from life to life
And from you to you
